Pregnancy management and neonatal physical characteristics in young pregnant women in Anyama, a peri-urban area of Ivory Coast

The study examines the influence of pregnancy management on neonatal physical characteristics among young girls in Anyama. This is an analytical and cross-sectional examination involving a sample of 230 young mother/child pairs. Data collection took place at Anyama General Hospital. The statistical analysis was carried out using SPSS version 23 software (Statistical Program of Social Science). The normality of the sample distribution was done using Shapiro. The relationship between pregnancy management mechanisms and neonatal physical characteristics was carried out using the Anova test, the significance threshold of which is set at p < 0.05 and non-significance at p > 0.05. The results reveal that most pregnant women seek therapeutic recourse from health centers. The analysis does not reveal any significant difference between the use of therapeutic practices of pregnant women and neonatal physical characteristics at the probability threshold 0.05 (p-value, Weight = 0.542; Height = 0.178; PC = 0.216). The analysis also does not indicate any difference between neonatal physical characteristics and the eating behaviors of pregnant women at the probability threshold 0.05 (p-value, Weight=0.821; Height=0.413; PC=0.506). Also, the analysis indicates that there is no significant difference between neonatal physical characteristics and risk behaviors of pregnant women at the probability threshold 0.05 (p-value, P=0.469; Size=0.595; PC =0.843).This present work demonstrates an absence of significant link between pregnancy management and neonatal physical characteristics among young girls in peri-urban areas.
