Abstract

This research aims to determine the manifestations of dehumanisation and to identify the frameworks for analysis to reduce reluctance to undergo ANC and PNC. The study involved 50 people, including 30 women and 10 men, 3 elderly people steeped in local knowledge, 2 traditional matrons, 2 traditional practitioners and 3 medical staff members.  Based on a qualitative approach centred on free interviews and direct observation, the principal results highlight the multiple expressions of the dehumanisation of care, particularly relational dehumanisation. This is expressed in the doctor-patient relationship and manifests itself in verbal abuse, mockery and rude treatment by healthcare providers.
