Solid household waste management in the city of Bondoukou

The demographic growth experienced by Ivorian cities, particularly Bondoukou, has accelerated the production of solid household waste. In addition, the population density of Bondoukou is at the origin of the problems of insalubrity. This results in the proliferation of household solid waste and its impact on the health of the population. The general objective of this study is to analyse the impact of household solid waste management on the health of the population in the city of Bondoukou. To achieve this, a literature search and a survey of 246 heads of households were carried out and then the statistical test of Chi-square and epidemiological model were applied. This study involved data collected from desk research, interviews, and direct observation. The results of this study show that the city of Bondoukou has a difficult management of solid household waste characterised by irregular collection. Consequently, the proliferation of this household waste exposes the population to health problems. The main pathologies observed are malaria 57%. Diarrhoea 16%, typhoid fever 11%. Dermatosis 9% and Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) 7%.
