The prevalence of global acute malnutrition was 9.7% in the Sahel region of Burkina Faso in 2019. Community groups promoting child nutrition have been set up in several villages in Gangaol for two years. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of learning groups and monitoring of young child feeding practices in improving the nutritional status of children in the villages of Gangaol. A comparative evaluation study of the intervention and control type was carried out from September to December 2019. Random sampling was carried out in the intervention and control villages. A focus group was carried out in each intervention village. 259 participants in groups for learning and monitoring infant and young child feeding practices (98.11%) in the intervention area found that this strategy was beneficial to them. The overall prevalence of acute malnutrition was 5.6% [2.9 - 10.5] and 13.2% [6.5 - 25.0] in control villages. The establishment of learning and monitoring practices for feeding young children has contributed to improving the nutritional status of children. These results argue for an extension of this intervention to other villages in the Sahel region.
